JAMMU, Mar 8: Jammu Bachao Andolan (JBA) today held a strong protest demonstration at Narwal against the PHE Department for providing water connections to Bangladeshis, Rohingyas and other illegal immigrants.
A large number of people from Narwal area participated in the protest which was led by the convenor of JBA Ch. Vikram Randhawa. The protesters with pla cards in their hands shouted slogans against the illegal settlement of immigrants in Jammu and also took PHE Department to task for giving water connections to them.
While addressing the protesters Ch Vikram Randhawa alleged that the PHE Department after violating all norms has sanctioned water connections to these illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Mynmar. He said that few locals of the area have obtained these connections in their name but actually water is supplied to these illegal immigrants.
He said that PHE can provide connections only to the plots where houses are constructed and that too by locals, not illegal foreigners and alleged that in this case PHE has given the connections to the plots where no construction was ever given. He alleged that following this the locals are facing acute shortage of potable water and with the onset of the Summer the situation will worsen.
He warned the PHE authorities to disconnect all these connections within 72 hours otherwise JBA activists will uproot all the pipes laid down to provide drinking water to these illegal foreigners.
Those participated in the protest include Vivek Patyal, Amit Gupta, Beli Ram, Gaurav Sharma, Murad Ali, Sadiq Ali, Mohd Abbas, Bashir Ahmed, Ram Paul Choudhary, Satish Kumar and others.
