JAMMU, Jan 15: In its endeavour to push forward the collaborative and mutual issues of all artists of Jammu and Kashmir and bring them under one canopy of a strong depiction to voice their concerns, Jammu and Kashmir Cine Association (JKCA) came into existence today.
The purpose mooted by the joint alliance was to take up variegated issues related to upliftment of cinema and its allied art works in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir under the one banner only.
On the occasion, the executive body was also framed as per the constitution of an association which was unanimously vetted by the members and names were singled out for different posts.
Dharmendra Kumar Kohli was chosen as the president of the Association while Kusum Tickoo and Rakesh Khajuria were picked up as Vice Presidents through the unanimous raise of hands to support their candidature.
The name of Atul Vinod Duggal was offered as General Secretary which was agreed upon by the members by thumping of the desks while Sudesh K Verma and Irfan Choudhary’s names were proposed and accepted by the members as Joint Secretary and Organizing Secretary, respectively.
Vikram Sharma was enshrined with responsibility as publicity secretary while Sandeep Rattan Verma was chosen as treasurer of the Association looking after the financial aspects.
Speaking on the occasion, President D K Kohli said that the urgency for forming of an association had come of late to take entire JK artists; fraternity in the loop for the betterment as well as the upliftment of cinema in Jammu and Kashmir .
“J&K is growing as a potential setting for quality cinema and many local filmmakers are creating good products visible on local as well as national forums. This consideration has forced all elder as well young film doers to join hands under one canopy and grow to their potential best,” said Dharminder Kohli .
Vice president Kusum Tickoo said that since many senior and cinema stalwarts have been creating wondrous works since past many years to extend buoy to Television and Cinema in UT, the forming of JK Cine Association would lead as torch bearer to flourishing, grooming generation in the field to take up the righteous path to wisdom on film making besides adding variegated flamboyance to the exciting cinema of J&K.
The executive body announced that sooner the JKCA would release its calendar of activities and different issues to be taken up in the due course of time.
