Jaishankar meets Hasina, holds talks with B’Desh Foreign Secy

DHAKA: Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, who arrived here in the afternoon on a two-day visit, called on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office. The visit is taking place, ahead of Ms Hasina’s visit to India, likely in later next month or early April.

Earlier, Dr Jaishankar had a meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart Mohammad Shahidul Haque, during which they reviewed the whole gamut of bilateral relations. “This visit is at the invitation of Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque.

The two Foreign Secretaries will review the areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, including high level visits,” the Ministry of External Affairs had said, ahead of Dr Jaishankar’s visit. Ms Hasina’s visit will be her first state visit to India – since taking over of power by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. (AGENCIES)
