Jai Baba Shivo CC defeats Paluna CC by 8 wickets

SAMBA, May 13: Jai Baba Shivo Cricket Club registered a convincing victory over Paluna Cricket Club in the opening match of the RR Cricket Tournament organized in memory of martyrs Havildar Roshan Lal and Rohit Kumar at Nichla, Ghagwal.
Batting first after winning the toss, Paluna Cricket Club scored 92 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 10 overs. In reply, Jai Baba Shivo Cricket Club chased the target in just six overs, losing only two wickets, with an aggressive display of batting featuring several boundaries and sixes.
Amit delivered an all-round performance and was declared ‘Man of the Match’ for his 3-wicket haul and quick-fire 22 runs off 8 balls. The tournament was formally inaugurated by SDM Ghagwal Kanwaljit Singh as the chief guest, who also paid floral tributes to the martyrs before the start of the event. A total of 16 teams from Kathua and Samba districts are participating in the tournament.
Addressing players and youth, SDM Ghagwal highlighted that such sporting events honour martyrs and help keep youth away from drug abuse. A pledge against drug abuse was also administered on the occasion. Other dignitaries present included Shakeel Ahmed and Surara along with former Sarpanches, Panches, and a large gathering of locals and youth.
