Jagruk Hindustani Premier Volleyball League gets underway

JAMMU, Apr 19: Jagruk Hindustani Premier Volleyball League for youth of border region from Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts kicked off, today.
A total of 64 teams comprising of local participants from Damana, RS Pura, Bari Brahmana, Samba, Kathua, and Janglot are participating in the event to vie for the top honours.
This competition is being organized by the Rising Star Corps with the aim of giving an impetus to the local youth of Jammu to come to the forefront and inculcate the spirit of healthy competition.
During the curtain raiser event organised at Samba, Commander, Samba Brigade interacted with all the captains of the teams and wished them good luck on behalf of Lieutenant General, Ashok Ambre, General Officer Commanding, Rising Star Corps.
A total of 64 teams will battle it out in Phase-1 of the competition to be held from April 19 to April 25, 2016. The best 8 teams will be selected and will battle it out in Phase-2 of the competition to be held at Samba from May 3 to May 14, 2016.
A total of 16 matches were played on the inaugural day today with teams from Samba, S Kalan, Palla Wala, Sudiyal, Gho Manhasan, Gol Patal, Dehi Chak, Gajansu, Badyal, Fathu Chak, Shekhu Chak, Aala, Pindi Camp, JBC and Degree College Kathua, Basohli emerging victorius.
