JAMMU, June 3: A meeting of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) workers was held today under the chairmanship of State president Shiv Kumar Sharma.
While addressing the meeting, Sharma called upon the State Government to redress the burning problems being faced by the working fraternity of State.
Sharma said that thousands of daily rated workers are awaiting regularization. He demanded to regularize all the daily wagers who have been working for more than two decades now on daily basis. He asked the Government to absorb such workers as permanent employees of the State on priority.
He said that employees are braving acute crises and hardship in this age of inflation and unending prices rise.
He said that only GP Fund accounts are Oasis in the desert of scarcity today. The G P Fund accounts should be rationalized, so that the employees are saved from raising loans from outside agencies which charge exorbitant interest rates in turn.
The INTUC president also demanded release of already announced 17% hike in D A immediately and to sanction 6% another hike in D A which has been released by the Central Government to its employees recently since January 1, 2015.
On the other hand, Sharma amid applause, appealed to the Government to raise the daily minimum wages limit to an adequate extent. He advised the workers fraternity to be prepared to get their rights and legitimate dues with struggle and hardwork.
