JAMMU, Jan 31: The Mathematics Department and Science Club of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar today organized an Intra College Symposia on the topic “Mathematics: Everyday, Everywhere”.
The event was organized in collaboration with J&K Council for Science and Technology, DST Jammu.
Principal of the college, Dr Kiran Bakshi was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr Anupama Gupta HOD, Department of Mathematics, in her welcome address threw light on the relevance of Mathematics in every sphere of life.
Dr Bakshi in her address exhorted the students to actively participate in such events as these will not only help them to develop a deep understanding of the subject but will also assist them to excel in the field.
A total of 14 students participated in the event. First, second and third prizes were awarded to Sakshi Bhagat, Kritika Mengi and Paras Anand whereas, Sipaj Jain, Aditi Mahajan and Simrandeep Kour got consolation prizes.
The adjucators for the symposia comprised of Prof Sudha Sehgal, HOD, Physics, Prof Kamlesh Slathia, HOD, Geography and Prof Mohinder Pal, HOD, Statistics.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Anupama Gupta.
