JAMMU, Oct 1: With a slowdown in private sector job growth has been slugging across the country, and in J&K which has a very small proportion of corporate offering jobs, the failure of the Government to make good on promises to hire has hit the unemployed the most.
This was stated by former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla while addressing large number of youth who were gathered to apprise former Minister of their grievances especially the callous attitude of coalition Government which is hell bent to play with their careers by lacking concrete policies to secure their future.
They alleged that the board has no regard for time limit in selection process. The gathering mostly comprising unemployed youth castigated the board for inordinate delays in conducting written tests, interviews and announcing final selection lists.
For the past couple of years the reluctance of the State Government to provide jobs has lead to unemployment crisis, Bhalla said, adding that inordinate delay on part of the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) in recruitment process has evoked strong resentment and frustration among the aspirants.
Bhalla said that it is quite unfortunate that in this age of internet, the board takes years together to complete selection process even for few posts. He termed the slow paced selection process by the board as a grave injustice with educated youth. The so called, much hyped fast track recruitment process announced by the present Government proved a hoax and a joke with the unemployed youth of the state. The delay policy adopted by board becomes a source of depression among aspirants as educated youth in this employment starved state with almost negligible avenues in private sector run from pillar to post in search of jobs. Expressing concern over the inordinate delay in the selection process, former Minister said the present Government has failed to strengthen the JKSSB to expedite the selection process of referred posts. He demanded Government to designate a nodal officer from their respective departments who will coordinate with JKSSB so that the referred posts are filled within the stipulated time.
Expressing anguish over total failure of official machinery to solve day to day problems of the people, former Minister regretted that common masses have to agitate on streets just to get basic amenities.
