BREDA (Netherlands), May 22 : The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team kicked off their European Tour with a decisive 2-0 victory over the Netherlands’ club Bredase Hockey Vereniging Push here on Wednesday. Goals from Hina Bano and Kanika Siwach secured the win, setting a positive tone for the tour.
The match started with both teams showcasing strong defensive strategies, leading to a goalless first quarter despite several penalty corner opportunities. India’s determination to take an early lead was evident, but they were unable to capitalize on their chances.
The deadlock was finally broken in the third quarter when Hina Bano successfully converted a penalty corner, giving India a 1-0 lead. Despite the Dutch club’s efforts to equalize, their three penalty corners in the third quarter went unconverted, keeping them behind.
In the fourth quarter, the Indian team solidified their victory as Kanika Siwach scored, doubling India’s lead. The Indian defense held firm, maintaining a clean sheet and ensuring the 2-0 win.
The Indian Junior Women’s team will face Belgium in their next match in Breda, Netherlands, on 22nd May, continuing their European campaign with confidence and momentum. (UNI)
