Inauguration delays use of 3 health centres

JAMMU, Feb 24: Astonishing it may sound but it is a fact that three health centres in Kathua district are not being put to use only for want of their inauguration by Minister(s).
These health institutions are Community Health Centre, Basohli, Trauma Centre Mahanpur and Health Sub Centre Jandrota.
These health centres were constructed by the Government after intense pressure from the local populace. But even after their construction the people remain deprived of their benefit as Health Department wants these centres to be inaugurated by high dignitary.
Admitting that work on these centres has been completed in all respect, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, who was responding to the query of Jagdish Raj Sapolia in the Legislative Assembly on behalf of Health Minister, said, “these centres would be inaugurated shortly. Since Chief Minister is presently holding the portfolio of Health Department I will bring this to his notice”.
Concerned over delay in opening of these centres, Mr Sapolia said, “if these centres are not inaugurated within days then the same would remain un-used till the completion of Lok Sabha elections as Model Code of Conduct is expected anytime”.
Why the Chief Medical Officer cannot be asked to inaugurate the health centres? he asked.
