Sir,
This refers to article by Dr Raja Muzzafar Bhat… In Governor’s rule SIC acts against RTI violators (DE 30/07/2018). It is not only the State Information Commission which has started to act against the violators and wrongdoers but most of the departments in Government sector are responding to public since Governor’s rule has been clamped in J&K. It is expected that in a democratically elected Government people are able to get the good governance and justice . People have fought and continue to fight for getting democratic rights in various parts of world. They believe democracy will give them justice and ensure transparent governance , but this is opposite in J&K State.
We have observed from 1980s that during Governors rule the Government institutions are more effective and answerable in Jammu & Kashmir, otherwise departments see lot of political interference during elected Governments. This is really a very sad state of affairs. Time has come when we need to overhaul our democratic institutions especially the political parties. I would appeal well meaning people of the State especially the educated and socially conscious citizens to come forward and try their luck in politics.
