SAMBA, May 13: The Institute of Mass Communication and Skill Development (IMCSD), in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Samba, organised the District Samba Athletics Meet 2026 under the theme “Strong Youth, Drug-Free Youth” at Rani Suchet Singh Sports Stadium.
Around 100 athletes from nine educational institutions participated in the day-long event, showcasing impressive performances across track events. In the Under-14 Girls 100m sprint, Jannat Rajput secured the gold medal, while Bhartijeet Kour and Vanshika Sharma won silver and bronze respectively.
In the Under-14 Boys category, Sarveshwar Singh clinched gold, followed by Aditya Khajuria with silver and Shivam Kalotra with bronze.
In the Above 16 Girls 200m final, Sparshdeep Kour won gold, while Sonika Choudhary and Alishdeep Kour secured silver and bronze. In the Boys 200m event, Krishna bagged gold, with Lucky Sharma and Keshav Singh finishing second and third. Chief guest Samriti Mahajan felicitated winners with medals and certificates. Vikas Sharma, MD (IMCSD) appreciated the participants and encouraged students to adopt sports for health and discipline. Participating institutions included Kushan Public HSS, St Stephen’s Convent School, MIER HSS, Nav Vidya HSS, Adarsh Vidya Peeth HSS and GDC Samba.
