IIT Bombay workshop on ‘Scilab’ held at SMVDU

KATRA, May 5: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), in collaboration with IIT Bombay, conducted a day-long Spoken Tutorial based ICT workshop on “Scilab”, a Free/Libre and Open Source Software for Education (FOSSE), under Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), MHRD, Government of India.
The main aim of the workshop was to impart training on Scilab to a large number of teachers, across the country, through the T10KT methodology. This time teaching faculty from engineering and science domains of various degree colleges and TGTs and PGTs of different schools across J&K state actively participated in this workshop.
Prof Kannan Moudgalya, Principal Investigator, Teaching Learning Centre (ICT), Spoken Tutorial and FOSSEE projects, IIT Bombay, was teaching faculty who promoted Scilab for documentation and laboratory use.
Dr Pankaj Biswas, Assistant Professor, School of Physics, was the course coordinator. Sudesh Bhadu, Assistant Professor and Dinesh Sharma, Lab Assistant, School of Computer Science and Engineering, were the remote centre coordinator and the A-VIEW coordinator, respectively, for conducting the workshop.
