JAMMU, Feb 15: Colonel Devendra Anand, PRO Defence interacted with the students of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Northern Regional Centre to communicate about the defence reporting, here today.
Colonel Anand shared information about the Indian Army, its working style, its challenges and basics of the defence reporting with the students.
Initially, Prof. Rakesh Kumar Goswami, Regional Director IIMC Jammu welcomed the resource person and emphasized about the defence reporting.
The resource person said, “The right information is disbursed in the right manner, without any delays and it is very important. The defence reporter must be concentrating on national security, integrity and humanitarian values.”
He also elaborated on how the army conducts ‘Sadbhavna’ activities to streamline the thought process of the youth towards the military.
The lecture was followed by an interactive session with students of English Journalism, Hindi Journalism and Digital Media.
During interaction, the Defence PRO mentioned the Defence correspondence course and encouraged students to join this course in future. He mentioned that the course is the best way for a journalist to improve their command on defence reporting and give them holistic exposure.
The Colonel concluded the session by showing the students ‘Sainik Samachar’-a magazine.
During the session, Prof. Anil Saumitra, Coordinator Hindi Journalism, Dr Dilip Kumar, Coordinator English Journalism, Dr. Vinit Utpal, Coordinator Digital Media, Vishv and Sant Kumar Sharma were present during the event.
