JAMMU, May 18: Police today arrested a man and detained his wife for the killing of a youth at village Bathri in Billawar tehsil of Kathua district.
The accused has been identified as Bishan Dass son of Rattan Chand, a resident of village Dheota, Billawar and the victim as Makhan Lal, 27, son of Gian Chand R/o Agli Dhar, Billawar.
Police said Bishan Dass suspected that his wife had illicit relations with Makhan Lal. He was reported to have spotted his wife in compromising position with Makhan, who was working in a halwai shop at Gujroo, Nagrota.
On May 11, Bishan Dass killed Makhan by inflicting him injuries with a heavy stone and threw his body in Naach river at village Bathri of Billawar. Police had recovered the decomposed body and identified it the same day.
Police said during investigations, it was established that Bishan Dass had killed Makhan.
Police have arrested Bishan Dass and detained his wife. A case has been registered against the youth.
Billawar police station teams headed by SHO Inspector Naresh Sharma worked out the murder case.
