Leh, June, 11: Hundreds of monks and nuns from Thailand are on a month long Pad Yatra to spread the message for World peace.
This is the 4th Pad Yatra organised by Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) Dewachan Leh.
After seeking blessing from Dalai Lama in Dharamshala these monks, nuns and layman started their journey from Dharamshala on May 25 and are expected to reach Leh on June 26.
Chanting prayer for the world peace these Yatris will cover a distance of approximately 250 kilometres. Braving the extreme cold and tough terrain these monks will cross through number of high passes such as Rothang la, Baralacha, Lachungla and Taglang la passes.
Thailand Ambassador, MIMC founder director Bhikkhu Sanghasena and prominent people from Leh will provide them warm reception. MIMC founder director Bhikkhu Sanghasena said that Ladakh is living Buddhism region from where they convey message of love to the world and these monks are also on a mission to spread the message of love and message in the world.
He added that such Yatra not only help in spreading message of peace to the world but also gives an opportunity to strengthen relation between Thailand and India.
“In the world of suffering desperately needing for peace this Yatra will convey a message for the world and every individual has a capability to change in the world and father of the Nation is an example to us” said Sanghasena while urging the people to adopt the path of love and peace.
He also informed that with the culmination of Yatra three days International on World Peace and Preservation of culture Heritage of the Himalayas will be inaugurated to mark the 150th birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Hundreds of delegation from America, Europe and Asian Countries likely to attend the conference and J&K and Madhya Pradesh Governors are also likely to visit for the conference.
