H&ME orders probe in non-recovery of rent from Cooperative Store

Srinagar, Sept 16: The administrative department of the Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department has ordered an inquiry into the matter of non-recovery of rent amount of over Rs. 38 lakhs from a Cooperative Consumer Store at Govt Hospital in Gandhi Nagar of Jammu for the last several years.
In this connection, the authorities have sanctioned the appointment of Dr. Harbaksh Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Jammu as an Inquiry Officer to enquire into the matter as to why the rent has not been recovered from the Sahakari, Bhandar Cooperative Consumer Societies Ltd. by the concerned officer(s), despite clear cut instructions in terms of Government Order No. 483-HME of 2007 dated 25.07.2007 issued by the Health and Medical Education Department.
The Inquiry Officer has been directed to submit the report to the Administrative Department within a period of one month “along with specific recommendations for initiating action against the officer(s) who have not implemented the aforesaid Government Order in letter and spirit.”
As per the order, the Inquiry Officer will also suggest measures for the recovery of an amount to the tune of Rs. 38,60,749 from the M/S Sahakari Bhandar Cooperative Consumer Store at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu as rent.
Meanwhile, in a separate order, ordered the eviction of M/S Sahakari Bhandar Cooperative Consumer Store at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu apart from the Appointment of Estates Officer.
The H&ME in this regard has appointed Dr. Narinder Singh Bhutyal, Medical Superintendent, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, as Estates Officer for initiating the eviction process of the shop occupied by M/S Sahakari Bhandar Cooperative Consumer Store at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu unauthorizedly and for non-payment of rent for the last so many years.
