JAMMU, Nov 18: Hindi Sahitya Mandal, Jammu, under its Diamond Jubilee celebrations, organized a multilingual Mushaira at Dogri Bhawan of Dogri Sanstha in the memory of Late (Prof ) Rita Jitendra.
Noted Kashmiri writer Dr Ramzan Shaad from Kashmir University was the chief guest whereas S Didar Singh, Hindi and Punjabi writer, presided over the event. Ameen Banihali and Chhatarpal, well known writers shared the dais. This is the fifth event of the series under Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the organization.
Dr Chanchal Dogra, president, Hindi Sahitya Mandal Jammu, gave a brief of the activities and programmes of the Mandal. Rich floral tributes were paid to Prof Rita Jitendra. S Didar Singh, Prof Kiran Bakshi and Subhash Sharma expressed their views and shared their memorable experiences with Prof Jitendra. They also highlighted various personality factors of Prof Jitendra. Poets and writers of Hindi, Kashmiri, Punjabi and Urdu languages viz Bikramjeet, M S Kaamra, Chhatrapal, Randhir Raipuria, Dr Monojit, Jang S Verman, Ameen Banihali and Dr Ramzan Shaad presented their satire verse and articles on various issues and impressed the audience.
S Didar Singh, in his presidential address, said that creating satire verse is a tough job. He said that though doctors say that laughing is a tonic for our health, the technique to make someone is not so easy.
Dr Ramzan Shaad, in his address, said that sharing experiences with the writers of other languages is a fine experience in itself. He appreciated the efforts of Hindi Sahitya Mandal for organizing multilingual Mushaira to unite the communities.
Dr Bhushan Sharma, Shivani Anand, Jagdeep Dubey, Ratan Bhardwaj, Pyasa Anjum, Padamdev Singh, Balwinder Singh, Harmeet Singh, Krishan Kumar and Shamendra were also present in the programme.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Subhash Sharma, general secretary of the Mandal. Pawan Khajuria, Literary secretary extended the vote of thanks.
