REASI, Aug 10: The district administration in Reasi has restricted the movement of heavy axle-load vehicles, including dumpers and buses, on the existing 22-metre span bridge at Nau Devian in Katra for 72 hours in the interest of public safety.
The restriction, imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, will come into effect from 6 pm on August 11 and remain in force till August 13.
The order issued by Additional District Magistrate Reasi Rakesh Kumar, followed a site inspection by PWD (R&B), Reasi, along with the consultant engaged for the proposed 50-metre span minor bridge.
The consultant, after assessing the condition of the existing bridge, advised immediate stoppage of heavy vehicle movement as a precautionary measure until strengthening work is completed.
The SSP Reasi has been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order, with violations liable to invite action under the BNSS.
The administration has appealed to commuters and vehicle operators to cooperate and follow the restrictions in the interest of public safety.
