JAMMU, Sept 4: Judicial Committee headed by Justice L Narasimha Reddy (retired Chief Justice of Patna High Court) is visiting Jammu to address veterans/family pensioners on One Rank One Pension (OROP) for Ex-Servicemen implemented by Government of India with effect from July 1, 2014.
The event is being coordinated by Air Force Station Jammu in which all Veterans/family pensioners can come and share their views on OROP. The event will be held on September 9 at 9 am at Tiger Auditorium in Satwari Cantonment.
OROP implies uniform pension to be paid to the Armed Forces Personnel retiring in the same rank with equal length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement. Any future enhancement in rates of pension will be automatically passed onto all pensioners. This bridges the gap between the rate of pension of current and past pensioners at periodic interval.
Post implementation of OROP orders, certain infirmities emerged in the policy which has been represented to the Government by Service Headquarters, Veteran fraternity and their associations.
Judicial Committee constituted by Central Government will hold hearing at easily accessible places with considerable number of Veterans/Pensioners to address the infirmities in OROP. This will facilitate and enable Veterans/family pensioners to make representations to implement the same in an equitable manner.
