SRINAGAR, Oct 13: A Horticulture Development Officer has been caught red handed by the Vigilance sleuths while accepting a bribe.
The accused, namely Peer Shakeel Ahmad, was accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant Ab Samad Malik, who had already lodged a written complaint in this regard with the Police Station VOK. As per the complaint, the accused Horticulture Development Officer was demanding a bribe for allotment of Fruit Shed under MIDH Scheme, in his favour.
Acting on the complaint, Vigilance Organization constituted a trap team, headed by DySP Muneer Ahmad under the supervision of SSP Vigilance, Altaf Ahmad Shah and caught the accused red handed when he was accepting bribe.
The tainted money was recovered from possession of the accused officer, who was arrested on the spot.
