HC defers hearing on Lalu’s bail plea

Fodder Scam

RANCHI, Nov 27: In a major setback for jailed RJD supremo and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav Jharkhand High Court on Friday deferred the hearing on his bail plea till December 11.
The court of justice Apresh Singh deferred the hearing and fixed December 11 as the next date after lawyers of Lalu Yadav sought time from the court to file their reply over the arguments made by the CBI.
The decision of the court has turned out to be major setback for Mr Yadav and his supporters. Lalu Yadav had courted fresh controversy a few days ago as he had called a BJP MLA from Bihar asking him to abstain from the proceedings of the Bihar Assembly.
As the issue was blown out in a hurry Lalu Yadav was shifted back to paying ward Room Number 11 of RIMS on Thursday afternoon itself from the Kelly Bungalow where he was staying earlier.
Kelly Bungalow is the official residence of RIMS Director. Newly appointed RIMS Director Kameshwar Prasad was forced to stay in the state guest house at Morhabadi as the house was occupied by Mr Yadav and his attendants.
A special CBI court had awarded a total of 14 years’ imprisonment to Mr Yadav in the Dumka Treasury case of the Fodder scam. Lalu Yadav has been lodged in jail since December 23, 2017 he was held guilty in Deoghar Treasury Case.
He secured bails in two cases of Fodder Scam related to Chaibasa Treasury and one related to Deoghar Treasury had the HC granted him bail in Dumka Treasury case it would have enabled the RJD supremo to walk out of the jail. (UNI)
