Hakla for special package to Gujjars, Bakerwals

POONCH, Jan 28: Shamsher Hakla Poonchi a prominent Gujjar leader and intellectual has made an appeal to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to sanction a special economical package for development and welfare of Gujjar and Bakerwals of this border State.
In a statement he said that it would be only then that their economical, educational, political and social backwardness could be removed and this backward community will get due justice. Gujjar Bakerwal community of the State mostly resides in hilly, far-flung and mountainous areas near forests and on the LoC, he said. The community has its habitation in almost 20 districts of the State. Their areas are lacking the facility like road communication, electricity, water supply schemes, medical facilities and schooling which put them in lot of hardships and troubles, he added.
He said the needs and the problems of the community are quite different from other communities of the State. Their language and culture is also different from other communities and as such the community has a distinct identity and a peculiar position.
In view these circumstances and to ensure the all round development of the community Hakla appealed Modi for special recruitment in Indian Army ,Border Security Force and Jammu and Kashmir Police for Gujjars and  Bakarwals.
