JAMMU, Nov 7: Deputy Chairman Legislative Council, Javaid Rana on Thursday said that the Government would take all necessary initiatives to supplement the efforts of establishing Gojri Research Centre at the University of Jammu.
Speaking at a function held to felicitate him on his election as Deputy Chairman, Mr Rana said that the Government has already taken several measures for upliftment and welfare of the Gujjar community. “Special focus is being laid towards the education and career building of youth of the community”, he maintained.
The function was organized by the Gujjar Bakerwal Students Federation, University of Jammu at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium. While Mr Rana was the chief guest, the felicitation function was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar. Masood Choudhary, former Additional Director General of Police and Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University was the guest of honour.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor Prof M P S Ishar lauded the youth, particularly those residing in far off areas including Gujjars and Bakerwals for their academic excellence and keen interest in pursuing higher studies. He urged the students to put in their best for excelling in various disciplines.
Prof Ishar also announced that the university was intending to set up the Gojri Centre very soon.
Nasseb Ali Chowdhary, State president GBSF welcomed Mr Rana for his election as the Deputy Chairman while Maqbool Hussain dwelt on various facets of the life of Mr Javaid Rana.
Speaking on the occasion, Masood Ahmed Choudhary shared his experiences with the students and asked them to work hard in order to achieve success in all walks of life.
Prof Jasbir Singh, Jai Kumar Sharma, Mahmood Ahmed Rana, Mohd Arif and Itfikhar Chowdhary of GBSF were among those present on the occasion.
