Govt sets up 12 Quarantine Centers with 1255 beds in Jammu

No fresh case of Coronavirus in J&K

JAMMU, Mar 22: Government of Jammu and Kashmir has established 12 Quarantine Centers with total capacity of 1255 beds in different parts of district Jammu to cope up with the emergent situation arisen by COVID-19.
The Quarantine Center with highest capacity of 465 beds has been set up at Sainik Colony, Nagrota, where Vishwajeet Singh (Deputy Director, FCS&CA) has been deployed as Incharge. He will be assisted by Karnail Singh (Naib Tehsildar, Jhajjar Kotli).
One 300-bedded Quarantine Center has been established at Yatri Bhawan, Bhagwati Nagar, where Kulraj Singh (Deputy Director, FCS&CA) has been deployed as Incharge. He will be assisted by Vijay Kumar (Naib Tehsildar, Gole).
Another Quarantine Center has been set up at Youth Hostel Nagrota with 100-bedded capacity where Government has appointed Ram Pal (Tehsildar Nagrota) as Incharge and asked Dinesh Anthal (Naib Tehsildar Nagrota) to assist him in his duties.
In Boys Hostel, SKUAST campus, RS Pura, 80 bedded facility was set up for quarantine purpose and Ram Lal Sharma (SDM, RS Pura) has been deployed as its Incharge. The SDM will be assisted by Gandeep Kumar (Tehsildar Suchetgarh).
One quarantine facility with capacity of 50 beds has been established at Pahari Hostel, Bantalab, whose Incharge will be Pawan Kotwal (SDM North). He will be assisted by Anayat Ali (Naib Tehsildar Muthi).
Similarly, four Quarantine Centers with capacity of 40 beds each has been set up at Teacher Bhawan (Gandhi Nagar), Hotel Red Rose (Narwal), IMPA Nagrota and Revenue Institute (Gole Gujral). While Shrikant Balasahib Suse (SDM Jammu South) has been deployed as Incharge of Teacher Bhawan Quarantine Center and he will be assisted by Javed Iqbal Parihar (Naib Tehsildar Satwari), Hotel Red Rose center will be looked after by Tariq Hussain (SDM Marh) and he will be assisted by Ravinder Sharma (Naib Tehsildar Rakh Bahu).
For Quarantine Centre of IMPA Nagrota, Devinder Singh Bahu (CEO JUDA) has been deployed as Incharge and he will be assisted by Shiv Kumar Gupta (Naib Tehsildar Sidhra) where as Rajesh Baru (Tehsildar West) will be Incharge of Revenue Institute (Gole Gujral) Quarantine Center and Mukhtyar Ahmed (Naib Tehsildar Agore) will assist him.
Likewise, three 30-bedded Quarantine Centers have been set up at NHPC Guest House (Railway Road), IIT Hostel (Paloura) and Excise & Taxation Institute (Nagrota), and Anil Thakur (SDM Khour), Jai Singh (Tehsildar North) and Suneet Singh (Tehsildar Dansal) have been deployed as their Incharges, respectively. These Incharge Officers will be assisted by Mohd Iqbal Zargar (Naib Tehsildar Bahu), Sujad Hussain (Naib Tehsildar Mishriwala) and Hans Raj (Naib Tehsildar Kattal Battal) respectively.
Meanwhile, in a big relief, no fresh positive case of COVID-19 was reported from J&K UT on fourth consecutive day.
A spokesman of J&K Government informed that 3938 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance and, so far, only four cases have tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir. He said 2727 persons have been kept under home quarantine, 59 in hospital quarantine while 690 persons are under home surveillance and 462 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period.
“240 samples have been sent for testing of which 229 tested as negative and only four cases have tested positive so far, while as seven reports are awaited,” he further informed.
In the meantime, official sources told Excelsior that to decrease the burden on the laboratories of SKIMS Soura, GMC Srinagar and GMC Jammu, the UT Government is exploring possibility to start testing at Army Hospital (AH) Labs at Udhampur and IIM Jammu. The Army has also agreed in principle for start of testing facility, they added.
They said that taking cognizance of acute shortage of masks, sanitizers and ventilators in Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals to meet any exigency due to COVID-19, Health and Medical Education Department has submitted a requisition to the Union Government for supply of the same immediately.
“After reports that doctors in Hospitals are working in an atmosphere of fear due to lack of protective gears and infrastructural facilities, the Health and Medical Education Department has requisitioned for supply of three lakh sanitizers of 500 ml each with 1000 Viral Transport kits and one lakh PPE Kits to the Union Government,” they added.
Sources further disclosed that the Department has requested the Union Government to expedite the supply of 100 ventilators for which the order has been placed by the UT Government already. They further informed that authorities of Health and Medical Education have also agreed to provide 20 ventilators to Baramulla Medical College which was facing their shortage.
They said on the complaint of family members of a Coronavirus suspect who had volunteered himself for testing after he returned from a foreign country, that he along with 15 other persons suspected for the dreaded virus have been asked to share a common toilet and bathroom at an Isolation Ward in Gandhi Nagar area, the higher ups in the Government directed authorities of the Health and Medical Education Department to look into the issue immediately and shift the patients to lodges and ensure a sanitized bathroom and toilet to avert any infection from one person to another.
