SRINAGAR, Nov 7: Accusing State Government for risking lives of Panchayat representatives in the State, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senior leader Muzaffar Hussain Beig today said the present dispensation has utterly failed to instill a sense of security among the recently elected Panchs and Sarpanchs.
Addressing a public meeting at Nowgam in Sumbal Sonawari, Beig said the present State Government has failed to come up to its commitments made with the people during the 2009 elections.
Beig said the inefficiency and corruption has eaten into vitals of governance in Jammu and Kashmir and the National Conference led Coalition Government has not been able rope up its functionaries involved in rampant corruption.
Referring to the ‘maladministration and corruption in the state,’ Beig said the present dispensation led by National Conference has landed the state in its worst crisis on political and economic fronts. “Even this Government is not able to defuse the LPG crisis which has engulfed the whole state particularly the Kashmir valley,” Beig remarked.
He said PDP does not believe get hold of power by hook or crook. “It does not matter whether we come to power or not as it is the will of the people which would decide it but we would strive for establishment of a system that can stand up to any attempts at its subversion by the ruling class,” he said.
“Whosoever gets the mandate must be subjected to strict scrutiny by the system and institutions should have the power and independence to enforce the constitutional provisions,” Beig stressed.
