KATHUA, Jan 6:  Former minister and senior Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has alleged that BJP-PDP coalition has turned mute spectator over agitation of NHM and other contractual employees.
Addressing public meetings in Billawar today, Dr Sharma said that these employees are qualified doctors,  trained para-medics and management assistants of different categories and higher qualified contractual employees of Education Department. He said that there is a large number of vacancies lying vacant in Health and Education Department and these NHM and contractual employees are doing good job both in rural and urban areas, but the State Govt is failed to take concrete steps and framing policy even after approaching a number of times to Health Minister and higher authorities of concerned department  by the Association of these employees. The ASHA workers engaged in Health Department are doing very well and providing health services to the door steps very effectively like vaccination and care of child and mother in rural areas.
Dr Sharma further said that the NRHM and National Urban Health Mission both are the brain child of  the UPA and after coming in power the NDA Government led by Modi is sabotaging the schemes by  decreasing   the funding of the both the schemes with vested interests  pertaining the political reasons. Interestingly   the health budget is also decreased as well and by decreasing the fund in these both schemes the health services are badly affected in the whole country and the work on building of health infrastructure as well as the services again come to the halt.   He said that the Govt should listen the genuine demands of NHM employees and make a workable solution for their regularization so that the energy of agitating employees is used for strengthening health service in the State.
Dr Sharma urged the State Chief Minister  for her intervention in the matter and consider the genuine demands of NHM employees without further delay, instead of remained them on strike or giving them inhuman treatment.
