Govt constitutes crisis management committees to deal with mine disasters

JAMMU, May 29: The Government today constituted committees for State and district level crisis management to deal with possible disasters in mines.
The State level committee, headed by Administrative Secretary Industries and Commerce, will review preparedness of various machineries for the management of crisis in the mines and conduct surprise visit of at least five mines in a year.
The committee will also publish annual report on the preparedness of the Government to handle the crisis, giving all important details.
The Six-member State level committee will comprise representative of Police Department (not below DIG rank), Director General Fire & Emergency Service, J&K, representative of  the State Disaster Management (Revenue Department), Health Department and Director of Geology and Mining Department.
The committee will report all developments to the Chief Secretary for seeking directions and guidance from Government of India.
The District Level Committees, headed by the concerned Deputy Commissioner, will comprise District SP as convener and District Mineral Officer, Geology & Mining as well as Assistant Director, District Fire & Emergency Services as the members.
