KATRA, Sept 11: Governor N. N. Vohra, Chairman, and Members of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Dr. Devi Shetty, Chairman, Narayana Health, Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Bangalore, visited the Super Speciality Hospital project at Kakryal and undertook an extensive review of the status of this project which involves an expenditure of approximately Rs. 300 crore.
Pertinent to recall that the Shrine Board had last year concluded an Agreement with Narayana Hrudayalaya Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, which operates 32 hospitals all over the country, for operationalisation of the 230 bedded Super Speciality Hospital which has been built by the Shrine Board at Kakryal. Dr Shetty is a world renowned Paediatric Heart Surgeon and a pioneer in the establishment of a hospital chain in the country.
During discussions with the Chairman and Members of the Shrine Board, Dr Shetty reaffirmed his commitment that the best known Physicians and Surgeons will be brought to Kakryal. This Hospital will have 20 different streams of medicine and surgery, including cardiology, cardio-thoracic surgery, neurology, neuro-surgery, nephrology, urology, oncology, pulmonology, bone-marrow transplant, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, trauma-medicine, paediatrics and neonatology, obstetrics and gynaecology.
The Super Speciality Hospital has a floor area of Rs 2.54 lakh sft and residential accommodation of Rs 2.67 lakh sft for housing doctors, nurses, para medical and ancillary staff. The hospital complex will have an Inn for enabling the patients coming from within and outside the State to stay, for recovery and follow up treatment, within the hospital complex on moderate payments.
For the attendants of the patients, a Dharamshalla has been built and, besides, arrangements have been made for moderately priced food being served through the day. This hospital has been specially equipped to treat patients suffering from Cancer, Heart and Neurological diseases.
After detailed discussions on all aspects of the under completion Super Speciality Hospital, it was decided that the Chief Executive Officer, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, will ensure that all elements of this project are fully completed by 30th November, so that the Hospital can be commissioned soon thereafter.
Meanwhile, Governor travelled on the Domel-Kakryal, National Highway-Kakryal, Kakryal-Katra and Katra-Domel roads to personally view the present status of these networks.
It is relevant to recall that the repair and upgradation of these four road networks has been under the Governor’s regular review in the past year and more and he had chaired a meeting at Raj Bhavan, Srinagar, earlier this month, involving the Commissioner/ Secretary, PWD (R&B); Chief Engineer, PWD, R&B, Jammu; MD of JKPCC; Director, National Highway; DG Budget; CEO of SMVDSB and other officers.
Considering the very high importance of ensuring that the roads are maintained in a satisfactory condition to enable the patients from within and outside the State to travel with ease to the Hospital, Governor had held a meeting with Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Minister for Public Works, earlier this month in regard to the time bound upgradation of the roads under reference.
After today’s review, it was disclosed that the Governor would have a further meeting with Mr Bukhari early next week, to ensure against slippage in the agreed time schedule for the improvement of the roads connecting the hospital.
