Jammu, Feb 26: Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, GOC 9 Corps today paid a courtesy call on the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu here at the Raj Bhavan.
The Lt Governor and the GOC discussed about the current security situation and issues relating to the security management in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lt Governor appreciated Army’s role in maintaining peace and security and stressed the importance of maintaining a sustained coordination between the Army and other security forces to meet the security challenges in the J&K.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Councillors of Srinagar Municipal Corporation called on the Lieutenant Governor, and sought his intervention in redressing their concerning issues.
The delegation comprising of SMC Councillors- Dr Ashok Koul and Bashir Ahmad apprised the Lt Governor of various issues pertaining to recruitment under Prime Minister’s Special Package for Kashmiri Migrants, protection of shrines and temples in Kashmir, regularization of Recovery Helpers, Orderlies, Drivers and Chowkidar of J&K State Co-operative Agriculture & Rural Development Bank Ltd., besides other issues of Kashmiri Pandit Migrants including removal of illegal encroachment & protection of their immovable properties etc.
The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues and demands projected by the members of the delegation and assured them to address their genuine issues and demands.
