JAMMU, Mar 22: A meeting was held today under the chairpersonship of Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal, Government Medical College (GMC) and Associated Hospitals Jammu to discuss various issues pertaining to operationalization of Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) Gandhi Nagar keeping in view COVID-19.
The meeting was called in view of the de-notification of the Gandhi Nagar Hospital by Director Health Jammu. It was decided in the meeting for early operationalization of OTs and Labour room at SMGS and MCH Gandhi Nagar Jammu for Gynae & Obst COVID patients.
After threadbare discussion it was decided in the meeting that the existing post-partum care (PPC) area in SMGS Hospital, Jammu shall be used for the management of Obst & Gynae COVID-19 positive patients.
It was also decided in the meeting that the COVID-19 positive new born babies shall be kept in the Paediatric Surgery OT and Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) shall be done outside the PPC by installing a Kiosk.
The Principal was apprised during the meeting that most of the equipments are available for starting of the OTs. She stressed upon the start of COVID OTs in addition to non-COVID theatres in view of the upward trend of COVID -19.
It was also decided in the meeting that for the time being SMGS Hospital shall work as COVID-19 dedicated hospital also until MCH Gandhi Nagar is fully operationalized.
The meeting was attended by Dr Surinder Kumar HoD Obst & Gynae, Dr Ghanshyam Saini, HoD Paediatric, Dr Samriti Gulati, HoD Anaesthesia, Dr Jyoti Hak (Professor, Obst & Gynae), Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Administrator GMC & AH, Sonia Vaid, Deputy Director Planning ( P&S), Dr Manoj Chalotra, MS SMGS, Dr Arun Sharma, MS MCH Gandhi Nagar and XENs Civil, Mechanical and Electrical.
