JAMMU, Oct 9: The Ophthalmology Department of the Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu today observed the `World Sight Day’. The day was observed in upgraded Department of Ophthalmology in the GMC Jammu.
Several Consultants of the Department attended the seminar, which was presided over by GMC Principal Dr Ghanshyam Dev Gupta.
HoD Ophthalmology Dr Dinesh Gupta was also present on the occasion. The programme was organized under his guidance.
Dr Priyanka and Dr Ridham delivered lecture on the importance of `World Sight Day’.
The doctors of Ophthalm-ology Department made the patients aware about the valuable sight.
Dr Dinesh Gupta said the diseases, which require attention to save the sight, included cataract, refractive arrors, low vision, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.
Dr Gupta said one person turns blind after every five second in the world and this trend was required to be arrested.
