JAMMU, May 23: Department of Orthopaedics, Government Medical College Jammu, organized the Northern India-IOA PG Clinical Teaching Course 2026 at the College auditorium.
The two-day academic event brought together more than 100 doctors, postgraduate students, faculty members and orthopaedic professionals from various medical colleges and hospitals across the region.
The course focused on strengthening postgraduate education through clinically oriented and examination-focused sessions. The programme featured lectures by eminent faculty, interactive clinical case discussions, quiz sessions, OSCE-based learning, radiology stations, hands-on exposure to orthopaedic implants and instruments, and sessions on orthotics and prosthetics.
Detailed anatomical, radiological and pathological correlation sessions were also conducted by consultants from the Departments of Anatomy, Pathology and Radiodiagnosis, Government Medical College Jammu. A key highlight of the event was the introduction of the OSCE concept through a structured format aimed at familiarizing postgraduate students with modern assessment methods.
The event was held under the patronage of Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean, GMC Jammu, who stressed the importance of such academic initiatives in strengthening medical education and clinical excellence.
The course was organized under the guidance of Dr Sandeep Kumar, chairman IOA PG Committee, Jamia Hamdard Delhi; Dr Sanjeev Gupta, organizing chairman and HoD Orthopaedics, GMC Jammu; Dr Abdul Ghani, convener & hon. secretary JKOA, vice president NZOA and Professor, Department of Orthopaedics, GMC Jammu; Dr Mohd Farooq Bhat, co-convener and Professor, Department of Orthopaedics, GMC Jammu; Dr Samarth Mittal, treasurer IOA, AIIMS New Delhi; and Dr Rajesh Gupta, co-chairman IOA PG Teaching Committee and HoD Orthopaedics, ASCOMS Jammu.
Distinguished National faculty members who delivered expert sessions included Dr Altaf Kawoosa, Dr. Ashish Gohiya, Dr. Sumit Sural, Dr. Rajesh Kapila, Dr. Tarun Goyal, Dr. Rohit Kumar Jindhal and Dr Himanshu Kanwat.
The academic proceedings were enriched by valuable contributions from local faculty members Dr Fareed H Malik, Dr Rajinder Singh, Dr Bias Dev, Dr Manish Singh, Dr Neeraj Mahajan, Dr Tahir Afzal, Dr Rahul Mahajan, Dr Akhil Gupta, Dr Jyotsana Suri, Dr Prenika Shangloo and Dr Namita Sharma.
