Ghagwal police foils bovine smuggling bid, rescues 17 animals

SAMBA, Mar 28: Ghagwal police has foiled bovine smuggling bid after arresting the smuggler and rescuing 17 animals at National Highway, Tapyal near here, today.
Acting on reliable information received at P/S Ghagwal that bovine animals are being smuggled towards Srinagar, a police party of P/S Ghagwal headed by Inspector, Rajeev Kumar, SHO P/S Ghagwal under the supervision of Deepak Digra DySP Hqrs, Samba during vehicle checking naka at NHW Tapyal, signalled a truck bearing Registration Number JK18-0465 which was coming from Kathua side to stop. On seeing police, the driver accelerated speed of the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot. But the alert Naka party succeeded in apprehending the bovine smuggler namely Mudassar Ahmed Magray, S/o Manzoor Ahmed Magray of Nowgam Chattergull, Anantnag and rescued 17 bovines which were being transported illegally. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on the spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 30/2019 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started.
The drive against bovine smuggling in the district has been launched by the police on the directives of SSP Samba, Dr Koshal Kumar.
