GDC Zanskar hosts educational visit for school students

KARGIL, Aug 28: Government Degree College (GDC) Zanskar organized an interactive educational programme for students and staff of Marpaling Lamdon Model School, aimed at familiarizing young learners with the academic, laboratory, computer, sports and outdoor facilities available at the college.

The programme was held under the supervision of Dr Amjad Ali Abassi, Principal, GDC Zanskar, and coordinated by Dr Mohd. Hussain, Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology.

The visiting delegation was accorded a traditional welcome with khataks. Haider Ali Askary, Assistant Professor of Sociology, formally welcomed the guests, while Dr Mohd Hussain, In-charge Principal, briefed them about the college's undergraduate courses, academic programmes and facilities.

Rigzin, President, Management Committee, Marpaling Lamdon Model School, encouraged students to explore the college's curricular and co-curricular opportunities and thanked the GDC Zanskar administration for arranging the visit. Dr Kousar Fatima, Assistant Professor of History, proposed the vote of thanks.

During the visit, students toured science laboratories and participated in demonstrations and discussions conducted by Dr Mohd Salim, Dr Hadi, Dr Sabir Hussain and Mohd. Anwar. They also visited the Skill Lab, where Nusrat Fatima, Graphic Designer, briefed them about graphic design and its career scope, while Neema, NIELIT staff member, explained available learning opportunities.

The students also visited the library, gymnasium and sports facilities and were introduced to trekking and outdoor activities.

Rejender Kumar Rana, Principal, Marpaling Lamdon Model School, appreciated GDC Zanskar for organizing the visit, particularly the laboratory, Skill Lab, library, sports, gymnasium and trekking demonstrations. He said such initiatives help school students understand higher education opportunities and pursue further studies with greater awareness and confidence.
