POONCH, Feb 11: The students of Government Degree College (GDC) Sunderbani today blocked Jammu-Poonch highway for half an hour, demanding immediate start of construction work on the college building.
The students also took out a massive protest rally against administration for inordinate delay in construction of the college building, under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
Students boycotted their classes and marched towards ADC office and staged protest against local officials for not considering their demand seriously. The protest was led by Vishal Sharma, district convener of ABVP. Meanwhile, joint action committee of Sunderbani also came into support of the students.
The protesting students dispersed after Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Sunderbani gave written assurance that the construction work of college building will be started within 10 days.
On the occasion, the ABVP leader said, “If construction work of college will not start in the given time period, all the students of GDC Sunderbani will block Jammu-Poonch highway”.
Akshey Prasher, Anil Sharma, Monu Sharma, Sloni Sharma, Vishal Sharma, Ashish Sharma, Sunny Kumar and several other students were presented in this protest.
