JAMMU, Sept 25: The NSS unit of Government Degree College Jammu City Paloura while celebrating NSS Day organized a symposium on ‘Violence against Women’, here today. Speakers raised the issues of rapes, dowry deaths etc in the programme and suggested various remedial measures in order to remove discrimination against women in the society.
Ten students of BA-Part-I, II and III participated in the programme and threw light on the topic. Akshay of BA-Part-III, Ayesha BA-Part-I and Bablu of BA-Part-II were declared first, second and third respectively.
While speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College Prof (Dr) Savitri Sharma stressed upon the students to come forward and take lead in the removal of evils in the society.
Prof Seema Sudan, Prof Anita Jamwal and Prof MS Saini were the judges for the programme. The Programme was organized under the supervision of NSS Unit of the College under the supervision of Prof Surinder Singh Parihar, NSS Programme Officer.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof Veena Sumbria, Prof Meenakshi Thakur, Prof Anuradha Choudhary, Prof Sabina Bashir, Prof Shaista Ajaz and Narayani Jamwal.
