GDC dominates Fencing Open C’ship

REASI, Mar 15: Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College dominated 15th Reasi District Open Fencing Championship which concluded here today.
More than 70 male and female fencers drawn from different institutions and clubs of the district participated in the championship.
On the final day of the event, three finals were played in senior epee girls, senior foil boys and senior epee boys.
The special guests were Shashi Kumar Sharma, Physical Director, Dr. Rajinder Kumar, Vice-President (RDFA), Ajay Kumar, General Secretary (RDFA) and Rohit Panjgotra.
The bouts were officiated by Kamal Kumar, Gourav Verma, Diksha Sharma and Archana Devi. All the winners will participate in the UT level Fencing Championship which is scheduled to be held at Indoor Fencing Hall, MA Stadium from March17 to 18.
In senior epee girls, Riya Manhas defeated Preeti Devi by 10-8 and won gold and silver medals respectively, while Vanshika Bandral and Aditika Salmat won joint bronze medals.
In senior epee boys, Parvinder Sharma won gold medal by defeating Rohit Thakur by 10-7 while Nazakat Hussain and Bansh Thakur won joint bronze medal in this category.
In senior foil boys, Parshant Chib defeated Gourav Thakur and clinched gold, while Gourav Thakur, Ajay Singh and Surya Partap Singh won silver and bronze medals respectively.
