JAMMU, Sept 24: Science Club of Government College for Women, Udhampur, organized an Inter College symposium on the topic “Preservation of Ozone- Layer”, in which 16 students from different colleges participated.
First and second prizes were bagged by Sunanda Bakshi and Archana Khajuria respectively from GCW Udhampur while third prize was clinched by Shabeena Akhter from GDC Boys Udhampur.
Consolation prizes were awarded to Navpreet Kour from GCW, Udhampur and Meenakshi Devi as well as Palvi Gupta from GDC Ramnagar.
Diksha Gupta and Preeti Sharma of B Sc Part -III conducted the proceedings of the programme, while Prof Ashni Devi (HoD Botany) delivered vote of thanks.
The program ended with the distribution of prizes and certificates among winners/ participants by the Principal of the college Dr Youdhvir Singh and convener of the symposium Dr Bhavnaish Chand.
The symposium was coordinated by Ms Sunita Razdan District Coordinator Science and Technology Council, Udhampur.
Principal of the College, Dr Youdhvir Singh, stressed on the number of practical measures which can be taken at individual level to contribute to the protection of ozone layer.
Dr Sanjay Verma (HoD Physics GDC Boys, Udhampur), Dr Arun Kumar Sharma (HoD Chemistry), and Prof Brinder Kumar (HoD Zoology) from the host college acted as jury members.
Prominent among others present on the occasion, were Prof Ravinder Kour, Dr Shalini Sharma, Dr Ashok Kumar, Dr Parveen Kumari, Prof BP Singh and Prof Neetu Raina.
