JAMMU, Oct 5: Expressing resentment, teaching faculty of Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Chak Bhalwal today locked the main gate of the college, on its 18th Foundation Day.
The protest demonstration by the teaching faculty of Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) entered 14th day today.
The action was taken as a token of resentment and frustration being faced by them in view of the non-cooperation and indifference by the Government in response to their genuine demand.
The college permanent faculty, which is only 28 in number, is still striving for 6th Pay Commission implementation and promotions, which reflects the step motherly treatment towards this elite institute by the Government.
The faculty further projected their resentment against the deferment of the 6th Pay Commission implementation by the Cabinet in their meeting held on 30-08-2012. It is very strange that even after 36 days of deferment nothing substantial has been done to redress their grievances by the Cabinet, one of the faculty members alleged.
They said that teaching faculty put their genuine demands in front of Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik a number of times, but nothing concrete has been done till date.
They appealed the Chief Minister to intervene in the matter and put an early end to their long and unfortunate ordeal.
