GCET faculty members placed in higher grade

JAMMU, Mar 16: The faculty members of  Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET),  Jammu have been placed in the higher grade.
The State Government, addressing the long pending  demand   of the faculty members and also responding to the directives from the J&K High Court, placed 16  Assistant Professors of the  GCET Jammu in the next higher grade.
Official sources said that in the absence of  departmental recruitment rules, faculty position created for Jammu  Engineering College,  were filled up through PSC, in accordance to the eligibility criteria prescribed by All India Council for Technical Education. However, the framing of recruitment rules remained under the consideration of the Government since long.  The members submitted several representations to the Government and later went to the High Court to get justice.
The court directed the Government to implement the order within six weeks. The Govt also  constituted a DPC in May 2014. On the basis of the recommendations of the DPC held on March 15, 2018  and the Court directives,  the Government today implemented the order and placed 16 faculty members of the GCET Jammu in the higher grade.
