SAMBA, Dec 30:  Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today flagged off ‘Mobile Exhibition Van’ under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign.
The van equipped with LED screens and sound system will show movies, documentaries and promotional video clips on women empowerment to generate awareness on gender parity benefits.
District Development Commissioner Sheetal Nanda, ASP Raja Adil Hamid, CPO J S Sambyal, DSWO Mushtaq Choudhary and other officers were present on the occasion.
The Minister highlighted the importance of the campaign as it envisages checking the declining child sex ratio in the district. He hoped that these sensitization and awareness programmes under BBBP will have a positive effect by empowering the female child and changing mindset of the society.
The Minister directed DDC to propose formulation of district level contributory fund for benefiting needy people who are yet to be covered under existing government welfare schemes.
Earlier, the DDC gave a brief background of activities being taken by the district administration like mass communication campaigns, celebration of birth of girl child, strict implementation of PC&PNDT Act and monthly monitoring of sex ratio through Guddi Gudda Board.
Meanwhile, Chander Parkash Ganga inaugurated a 3 week long Entrepreneurship Development Programme for 58 candidates under Sher-E -Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth.
The Manufacturing, Service and Agro based training programme is being organized by JK Entrepreneurship Development Institute.
The Minister appreciated the high success rate achieved by EDI under Seed Capital Fund Scheme. He called upon participants to develop innovative ideas and give them shape with dedication. He emphasized on laying strong focus on customer satisfaction and product quality.
The Minister cited various success stories at the state and national level and stressed on the need of developing new markets. The DDC Samba also appealed participants to avail various opportunities provided by EDI and Government agencies.
Speaking on occasion, CPO JKEDI informed that there are 119 units who have availed benefits of Seed Capital Fund Scheme at Samba with total seed capital amounting to Rs 4.23 crore.
DDC, Sheetal Nanda, CPO JKEDI, M.M khan, Addl SP Raja Adil Hamid, District Officer Divya Sharma along with entrepreneurs were present on the occasion.
