KISHTWAR, July 7: Four persons were arrested here today for sacrilegious act while a manhunt for few others involved in the crime was also launched.
As per reports, last night Police got an information about the sacrilegious act in Lower Poochal area in the outskirts of Kishtwar Town and Police parties lead by senior Police officers immediately raided the house of Sher Mohd Hajan, son of Habib Hajam at Lower Poochal and recovered remains of an animal.
Police immediately arrested four persons including the house owner and detained another person for questioning while cops were conducting raids at different places to nab some more suspects involved in the crime.
The arrested persons included Saleem Parvaiz, son of Mohd Akbar Kitchloo, resident of Poochal; Musavir Ahmed, son of Sher Mohd, resident of Poochal and Ghulam Hassan, son of Habibullah, resident of Keshwan.
An FIR with no. 182/2024 U/S 296/299 BNSS has been registered in this regard at Police Station Kishtwar and investigation started.
Meanwhile, the news of sacrilegious act triggered protest and many people including leaders of various Hindu organizations gathered at Poochal and raised slogans condemning the incident.
The protesters demanded bull-dozing of the houses of those involved in the crime so that such incidents may not recur.
