Srinagar, Sept 14: Unknown militants tonight shot dead a former Hizbul Mujahideen militant at Ramnagri village in Shopian district of South Kashmir.
Reports said that the militants barged into the house of former Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Shabir Ahmad Mir, 33, son of Abdul Rashid Mir at Check Ramnagri village in district Shopian at around 8 p.m.
Police said that gunmen fired indiscriminately on Mir before fleeing from the spot. He was left in a pool of blood.
Mir was rushed to the hospital by his relatives and neighbours but he succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital. His body was brought to the village. Police immediately rushed to the village. A case has been registered.
Army and police launched searches in the area to nab the militants responsible for his killing. No militant organization has claimed responsibility for his killing.
