UDHAMPUR, July 20: To ease movement of people and in order to decongest the busy Military Hospital Chowk in Udhampur, the Army shall undertake construction of a foot over bridge, which shall provide linkage for the pedestrians from M.H Chowk.
The decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held between the Minister of State Finance and Information Technology, Pawan Gupta and Sub Area Commander Major General Anil Partap Rai at Udhampur here this morning.
On projecting the case of dilapidated and damaged roads falling within their zones besides initiating exercise for improvement and up gradation of these roads, Major General Anil Partap Rai categorically assured the Minister for undertaking improvement and repairs on Jib-Thathi road and Chery-Swail road. The improvement plan entails construction of deep drains, water channels and blacktopping of all the roads falling under the Army Zone but is used by civilian populace.
The meeting also deliberated upon the initiation of various development works to be undertaken by the Army under various programmes. The Minister projected the construction and development of play-fields, installation of high mast lights on prominent squares and construction of a community hall.
Major General Rai assured the Minster that all development activities projected shall be worked out after their feasibility is examined.
Noted social worker Suresh Dixit was also present on the occasion.
