JAMMU, Feb 28: Food and Allied Workers Union has decided to observe complete bandh throughout the State from tomorrow and urged the Governor NN Vohra to intervene and resolve the issues on priority.
Addressing a press conference, the members of the Food and Allied Workers Union said that since no action seems to have been taken to redress pending issues in the additional 10 days time given to the concerned authorities, the workers have decided to observe complete bandh throughout the State from tomorrow, till the demands are fulfilled.
“Previously the strike continued for 20 days in the month of January and the authorities assured that all the demands would be fulfilled within 15 day. The issues were decided in the meeting held under the chairmanship of Secretary, CAPD Department, but till date nothing has been done”, they said, adding that the period of 15 days quoted and conveyed for redressal of issues completed on February 12 and the Government seems to have back stepped from its considered decisions and commitments because no issues have so far been settled.
The Union being restless under the pressure of workers reminded the concerned Officers on February 17 requesting for redressal for pending issues within 10 days there by avoiding resumption of agitational path including suspension of work throughout the State, they said.
The members highlighted demands including revision of bag rates as per price index w.e.f from December 2012, enhancement of MWG at par with FCI pattern, release of monthly wages on time, timely deposition of contributions deducted from workers on ALC of Provident Fund, ESI and LIC, release of pending payments to Muffassil workers, provision of listman for city supply, grant of city supply charges and implementation of pension scheme.
