SRINAGAR, May 11: Female Multipurpose Health Workers (FMPHW) demanding release of their salaries today protested in Srinagar.
The protesters were carrying placards in their hands and were chanting slogans against the authorities. The female health workers said they have not been paid salary for the last 9 months and are facing many problems due to it.
“The schools have begun to expel our wards as we are unable to pay their fees”, one female health worker said. They said due to non-payment of salaries many of them, who have taken bank loans, are unable to repay the loan installments as a result they are facing bankruptcy.
The health workers threatened to go on strike and come on roads if the Government did not take immediate steps to release their salaries. They said if they go on strike the immunization process at many health centers will be disrupted and all responsibility will be on the Government.
The protesters also said that despite putting in more than 30 years of service in health department they are not being promoted.
