Leh, Oct 20: To Commemorate the Bravery and Courage of the Indian Army and the People of Ladakh in 1947 against the Pakistani Raiders, the Fire and Fury Corps is celebrating ‘Defenders of Ladakh (1947) : Remembrance Day’ at the newly constructed picturesque Col Sonam Wangchuk, MVC Stadium near Shanti Stupa, Leh.
In the celebrations of the Historic event, a T-20 Cricket Tournament was organised. A total of 8 teams from all over the Ladakh region participated in the tournament. The final match was played between Ladakh Scouts and Servo Club where in Servo club emerged winner. The closing ceremony was presided over by Officiating Chief of Staff, Brig Umamaheshwar. The players of both the teams including match umpires were felicitated by the chief guest.
The event was well received by the locals who thronged the stadium in large numbers. Apart from the edge of the seat clash, the spectators also enjoyed a Gala performance by the Pipe Band of Ladakh Scouts and a Cultural Programme and Lion dance by SOS, TCV (Choglamsar).
