Branch, Cluster Office safe: JK Bank

Srinagar, Nov 5: A fire broke today at the Metro International Complex in Rajbagh, which houses several commercial establishments, including a branch of J&K Bank and the Jio office.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire is believed to have been caused by a short circuit in the building’s lift, which then spread to other parts of the structure.

“It was a short circuit. There has been partial damage, but all the offices are safe,” said Aijaz Ahmad, an eyewitness present at the site.
Officials from the Fire and Emergency Services told Excelsior that they received a call about the incident at 5:21 pm, and the Gaw Kadal station was dispatched immediately, followed by a team from the headquarters.
“The fire involved a four-storied commercial building. It was brought under control by 5:54 pm”, an official said.
Fire tenders were rushed to the scene soon after the incident, and police teams were deployed to ensure the blaze did not spread further.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and are assessing the extent of damage to the complex.
Meanwhile, J&K Bank confirmed that the fire was swiftly brought under control and caused no damage to its offices. “We wish to reassure the public, our customers, and stakeholders that both the Branch and the Cluster Office are completely safe and fully secure. Although today was a holiday, banking operations will resume as normal tomorrow. There is absolutely no cause for concern or panic,” a Bank spokesperson said.
