SRINAGAR, Aug 2: Fayaz Ahmad Malik has been elected as the President of Asia’s 2nd largest Fruit Mandi of Sopore for which elections were held today.
After the completion of the tenure of the president, Fruit Association Sopore issued notification for new elections.
Three candidates filed their nomination papers and after counting of votes, Fayaz Ahmad Malik alias Kakaji secured highest number of votes.
Large number of fruit growers and members of fruit Mandi Sopore were present on the occasion.
The newly elected president assured the people associated with fruit industry that he will work tirelessly to solve the different problems faced by them. He alleged that the Government has neglected the fruit industry and he will raise the issues at concerned quarters.
